PROJECT TITLE: ROMANOS III – Environment and public works seminars on European Union Environmental law and policy for greek administrative judges
COUNTRIES: Greece
OVERALL OBJECTIVE: To organize and deliver seminars on European Union Environmental Law in connection with Public Works addressed to administrative judges, following the implementation of the Project ROMANOS I and II.
ACTIVITIES:
The project transferred a specialized, in-depth knowledge in the field of Community Environmental Law to a branch of the judiciary with increasingly competence in environmental matters. The lectures focused on an in-depth analysis of the acquis communautaire and jurisprudence of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) in environmental cases, with special attention to the interpretation of the ECJ regarding new crucial issues as well as to regulation of Environmental Law. Judges were encouraged to make use of Article 234 (ex article 177) of E.E.C. Treaty and to refer questions on Environmental Law to the ECJ.
Lectures took place during five seminars organized in five regions of Greece. In the preparation and implementation of the project, the EPLC worked in close cooperation with the Association of Administrative Judges.
