PROJECT TITLE: YPSILANTIS II - Support for the necessary legal reforms towards the Support of Human Dignity and the Fight against Human Trafficking especially of Women and Children
COUNTRIES: Moldova
OVERALL OBJECTIVE: To harmonize Moldovan legislation on human trafficking with European and international standards, to familiarize the participants with the principles of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms and to raise awareness among Moldovan society on the dangers of human trafficking with particular emphasis on women and children.
ACTIVITIES:
The project was the continuation of the precedent project YPSILANTIS I. The activities of the project included:
- Organization of three seminars for NGO representatives, judges, prosecutors, lawyers and academics;
- A five-day study visit to Greece for the participants of the seminars during which they met with officials from the Ministry of Interior, Public Administration and Decentralization and the Ministry of Justice as well as with the President and Judges of the Council of State;
- A two-day expert mission of a Greek Delegation to Moldova
- Two three-month scholarships for studies and research in Greece for two Moldovan researchers.
