1st Seminar in the Framework of the YPSILANTIS II Project

The EPLO, in collaboration with the State University of Moldova, organized the first seminar on “Introduction to the phenomenon of human trafficking in Moldova with regard to the international and European legal framework”, within the framework of the Project “YPSILANTIS II - Support of the Necessary Legal Reforms towards the Support of Human Dignity and the Fight against Human Trafficking, especially of Women and Children, in Moldova”.

The speakers in this event included representatives from the European Court of Human Rights and the International Criminal Court.

The audience consisted mainly of students and academics, jurists, as well as NGO representatives dealing with human trafficking issues.

The following issues were discussed during the seminar:

• The legal framework for prosecuting acts of trafficking in persons under the Rome statute of the international criminal court and the European legal framework 
• European Union, Council of Europe, European Convention on Human Rights

Ms. J. Heraud, EPLO Associate Researcher/ Project Manager represented the EPLO in the aforementioned seminar.
