Presentation of an Innovative Artificial Intelligence Tool for the European Arrest Warrant

On 28 May 2026, the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) successfully hosted the event on the Presentation of an Innovative Artificial Intelligence Tool for the European Arrest Warrant and the Enhancement of European Judicial and Police Cooperation.

Organized within the framework of the project EuroLegalBot, funded by the European Union, the event brought together legal professionals, prosecutors, law enforcement authorities, academics, and practitioners to discuss the practical use of artificial intelligence tools in the context of European judicial cooperation and the European Arrest Warrant (EAW).

The event was honored by the participation of representatives from:
 - the Athens Court of Appeal Prosecutor's Office
 - the International Police Cooperation Division under the Security Branch of the Hellenic Police (SIRENE)
- the Directorate for Security and Protection of Maritime Borders of the Hellenic Coast Guard
 - the Athens Bar Association

The event opened with welcoming remarks and introductory observations by Prof. Vasiliki Artinopoulou, Scientific Coordinator of the project, and Lola Lyberopoulou, Director of EU and International projects at EPLO, while Lea Stavrou, Senior Program Officer at EPLO, presented the objectives and contribution of the EuroLegalBot project to strengthening European judicial and police cooperation.

The discussions included valuable contributions from Georgios Voulgaris Public Prosecutor at the Court of Appeal of Athens and Areti Skafida Deputy Prosecutor at the Court of Appeal of Piraeus who addressed practical challenges related to the implementation and completion of the European Arrest Warrant in judicial practice.

Participants also had the opportunity to attend the presentation and live demonstration of the EUROLEGALBOT Chatbot, including:
▪️ Introduction to the tool and its objectives
▪️ Key functionalities and fields of application
▪️ Support for justice professionals and competent authorities in EAW procedures
▪️ Demonstration of practical use cases and operational scenarios

The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session and an open discussion on the practical exploitation of AI tools in judicial cooperation, as well as the evolving operational needs of justice professionals.
