The EPLO launched a distance learning training program on the subject: “Financing Tools and Mechanisms of the European Union and other International Bodies”.

The program was designed for Greek civil servants who were in charge of or were interested in undertaking duties in public services involved with the design and implementation of development or social programs that could be funded through international and European frameworks.

The program was offered entirely online starting from November 1, 2012 and consisted of 350 hours of training through distance learning methodology. Trainees could visit the program’s website and complete the program at their own pace and according to their schedule.

Amidst the current financial and economic crisis, the use of any funding opportunities offered by the European Union and other international organizations was crucial and of decisive importance for the development of the necessary public policies. To facilitate and intensify the use of available resources it was required that the officers in charge, working in the central and regional administration and government were familiar with these financial frameworks.

The purpose of the program was to develop skills that enabled trainees to understand the financing opportunities offered within the Union and the international environment and how to use them.

The trainees that successfully completed the program were granted a Accreditation Certificate recognizing the respective training points of the civil service code.
