OVERALL OBJECTIVE

The S3E project aims to develop an engine of growth that will contribute to improve the connectedness and efficiency of the Southern European countries’ innovation ecosystems. It focuses on the acceleration of Deep Tech start-ups that, by providing solutions to a more sustainable society, can impact the economic growth in these countries.

ACTIVITIES

The project is built around 3 tracks focused on providing services for different levels of development of the startups (early stage, growth, and scaling).

  • Track 1 Plug-in and Start: engaging research projects and teams with potential to develop into an early-stage Deep Tech start-up and providing technology commercialization skills through training, mentoring, and networking.
  • Track 2 Connect and Charge: engaging growth start-ups, providing mentoring and networking
  • Track 3 Drive and Reverse program: engaging scaling start-ups and SMEs, creating a corporate to start-up brokerage program

Activities foreseen include:

  • Mapping of the Southern European science and technology ecosystem and of the European innovation ecosystem
  • Engaging the research teams, from Southern European science and technology organizations
  • Engaging investors, corporates, and other relevant stakeholders from the innovation ecosystem
  • Development and delivering of a training program to the research teams focusing on Deep Tech projects that target SGD which have economic, social and environmental impact
  • Development of a framework to network start-ups with international corporations and investors
  • Provide support to growth stage start-ups in preparing an investment ready business plan
  • Provide and facilitate matchmaking services between corporates, launching Deep Tech challenges and scaling start-ups offering to seize challenges and opportunities
  • Development and implementation of a pan-European outreach strategy to engage start-ups and corporates
