EPLO Director Spyridon Flogaïtis Speaks at the XXIX International Congress of Constitutional Law in Brazil
Professor Spyridon Flogaïtis, Director of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) and Professor at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, participated as a distinguished speaker at the XXIX International Congress of Constitutional Law, held in Brasília, Brazil, from 20 to 22 October 2026.
Organised by the Instituto Brasileiro de Ensino, Desenvolvimento e Pesquisa (IDP), the Congress brought together leading jurists, academics, judges, and policymakers from across Latin America and Europe to discuss contemporary constitutional challenges, including artificial intelligence, judicial governance, digital rights, constitutional transformation, and international cooperation.
Professor Flogaïtis took part in Panel 6, entitled“A Traveling Idea: Transformative Constitutionalism between Europe and Latin America”, alongside prominent constitutional scholars and public officials from Brazil, Argentina, and Germany. The discussion explored the evolution of transformative constitutionalism across legal systems and examined how constitutional principles can respond to contemporary societal challenges while strengthening democratic governance and the rule of law.
During the panel, Professor Flogaïtis highlighted the importance of comparative constitutional dialogue between Europe and Latin America, underlining the value of transnational cooperation in addressing common legal and institutional challenges. His participation further reflected EPLO’s longstanding commitment to advancing public law scholarship, fostering international legal dialogue, and promoting democratic governance through education and research.
The Congress featured a distinguished lineup of speakers, including judges of the Brazilian Supreme Federal Court, senior government officials, and internationally renowned academics, reaffirming its position as one of the leading constitutional law forums in the Portuguese-speaking world.
EPLO’s presence at the Congress underscored the Organization’s active engagement in global discussions on constitutionalism, democracy, and the future of public law, while strengthening academic and institutional ties between Europe and Latin America.
