PROJECT TITLE: Further Strengthening of the Border Control and Improved management of Migration
COUNTRIES: Romania
OVERALL OBJECTIVE: To assist Romania in harmonizing the national legislation to the EU Schengen acquis in order to prepare Romanian bodies involved in border, asylum and migration management as well as in related areas of activity, for its EU accession.
In particular, the project aimed at:
- Further harmonizing the Romanian legal framework on asylum according to the acquis communautaire and the EU standards;
- Further enhancing the capacity of the NRO in dealing with Safe Third Country- related procedures in view of future accession to the Dublin II Convention;
- Further enhancing the capacity of the NRO in dealing with unaccompanied minors and other vulnerable groups;
- Developing a Master Plan for the introduction of the EURODAC-system in Romania.
ACTIVITIES:
Main activities consisted of:
- Mobilization and coordination of expertise;
- Establishment of a Working Group;
- Trainings, workshops, seminars and conference;
- Legal analysis and review;
- Needs assessment;
- Organization of study visits.
