Academy of European Public Law 2016

16 Δεκ, 2025 - 12 Σεπ, 2016

PROJECT TITLE: Academy of European Public Law 2016

COUNTRIES: Greece

OVERALL OBJECTIVE: To offer leading specialized study sessions in the field of European Public Law to young graduates, jurists and scholars, coming from all over the world, who wish to further their knowledge and skills on the reasoning and philosophy of the different national public law systems of European countries, as well as the divergences among them under the instruction of eminent professors in the field drawn from partner universities.

ACTIVITIES:

Established in 1995, the Academy of European Public Law has been at the forefront of European public law teaching for over twenty years, and today enjoys a reputation as the primary destination for scholarship in public law within Europe's dynamic setting, assembling more than fifty universities.

The Academy offers three weeks of intensive courses leading to the Certificate of Attendance in European Public Law. Following the completion of two Academy sessions, it also gives the possibility of defending a thesis before an international jury and receiving the Intensive International Master of Laws (I.I.LL.M.). Select dissertations will have the opportunity of being published, while the best thesis each year will be awarded the “Luis Ortega Thesis Prize.”

More than 500 students have graduated from the Academy, and are currently serving outstanding careers in academia, advocacy and the public, private and international development sectors.

The Academy is governed by three bodies: the Honorary Board, the Curatorium and the Directorate. It does not have permanent faculty, but rather calls upon world-class academics and experts, judges, diplomats and lawyers in order to present a full spectrum of views and ideas.

In addition to its main annual session, the Academy organizes extraordinary sessions in partnership with University members of the EPLO, addressed to the students of the partner Universities.

From 2014-2017 the Academy of European Public Law is co-funded by the Jean Monnet for Institutions funding mechanism.
