On 20 - 27 November 2006 Professor Konstantine Balabanov, the Rector of the Mariupol State University of Humanities, who represents this University in the EPLC’s Board of Directors, paid a series of high-level visits during a one week stay in Athens. He had the opportunity of being received by H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic Mr. K. Papoulias at the Presidential Residence, by the Rector and the Vice-Rector of the University of Athens, as well as by high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Education and Religion and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Exchange of views, issues of strong co-operation and mutual support were emphasized as well as the importance of the Greek presence in Mariupol
On 23 November 2006, Prof. K. Balabanov, escorted by the Director of the EPLC Prof. S. Flogaitis, was warmly received by the Minister of Interior, Public Administration and Decentralization, Professor P. Pavlopoulos. Issues of legal and academic nature were discussed during the meeting, while the potential of a collaboration between the Mariupol State University of Humanities and the Authorities of the Greek public sector were enhanced.
During his stay in Athens, Professor Balabanov had the opportunity of having specific discussions with members of the Executive Committee of the EPLC regarding the collaboration of the two Institutions. Moreover, during these meetings a strong partnership was agreed upon, aiming to further improve the performance of both institutions in the framework of legal studies.
