Study visit in Greece in the framework of the Twinning project “Strengthening Administrative Capacities for Protected Areas in Serbia (NATURA 2000)”

The EPLO organized a study visit of Serbian delegates in Athens, Greece, from 11 to 17 September 2011, within the framework of the Twinning project “Strengthening Administrative Capacities for Protected Areas in Serbia (NATURA 2000)”.

The delegation consisted of Mr. Bernd Perdacher, Resident Twinning Advisor (RTA), Mrs. Katarina Vukšic, RTA Assistant, Mrs. Danica Bacanovic, Assistant Minister, Dr Slobod?n Puzovic, Provincial Secretariat for urban planning, construction and environmental protection, Mrs. Olivi? Tešic Provincial Secretariat for urban planning, construction and environmental protection, Dr Bilj?n? P?njkovic, representative of the Institute for nature Conservation of Vojvodina Province, Mr. Gor?n Sekulic, Institute for nature Conservation of Serbia, as well as Mr. R?disl?v Momirov, Mr. Duš?n Ognj?novic, Mrs. M?rij? Ml?denovic, Mrs. S?bin? Iv?novic and Mrs. Jelen? Ducic representing the Ministry of Environment, Mining and Spatial Planning.

The Serbian delegation visited the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change of Greece and attended presentations made by officials from the Nature Management Section, the National Committee for the Protected Areas NATURA 2000 and the Directorate for Aesthetic Forests, National Forests and Wildlife Management. In addition, on-site visits were organized at Parnitha National Park, at Vravrona Wetland and at Helmos Vouraikos National Park, during which the participants were guided in the protected areas and met with representatives of the Managing Authorities. Finally, members of WWF and MOM - Society for the Study and Protection of the Monk Seal shared their experience on the management of protected areas with the Serbian delegation during meetings organized in the premises of the EPLO in Athens.
