The EPLO, as a result of the participation of the Mariupol State University of Humanities in its Board of Directors and the initiatives undertaken by its Rector Prof. K. Balabanov, has proceeded with the establishment of an Office located within the premises of the Mariupol State University of Humanities.
On 6 September 2006 the Director of the EPLO, Professor. S. Flogaitis, visited Mariupol following an invitation of the Rector Prof. Balabanov. Professor Flogaitis together with Prof. Balabanov and the Consul General of Greece Mr. Fr. Kostellenos inaugurated the EPLO Branch in a special ceremony, in the presence of the Faculty, the students, the Press and the State television.
The following day, the Director of the EPLO, accompanied by the Vice-Rector of Mariupol’s University Mr. Yuriy Voloshin, the President of the Law School Mr. M. Baymuratof and the Professor of Greek Literature Mrs. Iryna Kosenko, had the opportunity of paying a series of official visits, including: a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Justice, Mr. Dmytro Kotliar, during which various issues of cooperation in the framework of the country’s reform in the view of its Europeanization, were discussed, as well as a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. A. Veselovsky, and meeting with the Deputy Minister of Education, Mr. M. Stepko, in which the parameters of the operation of the Office of the EPLO in Mariupol were discussed.
