A EPLO delegation traveled to Moldova on 24-26 May 2006, within the framework of the project “YPSILANTIS Ι - Training of Moldovan Jurists on the Rule of Law and Support for the Necessary Legal Reforms in Moldova”. The Greek delegation consisted of Professor S. Flogaitis, Director of the EPLO, Ms. G. Sioutis, Professor of Public Law at the University of Athens, Mr. S. Tsakyrakis, Associate Professor of Public Law at the University of Athens, Mr. X. Yataganas, Legal Counselor of the European Commission, Ms. P. Paparigopoulou, Deputy Greek Ombudsman, Professor E. Maganaris, Director of Research and Programs of the EPLO, and Mr. E. Kalamaras, EPLO Associate Researcher / Project Manager of the EPLO.
With the purpose of promoting legal reforms and advising the governmental and local authorities, the Greek delegation had meetings with the Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Justice, the Minister of Education and Sports of the Republic of Moldova, the General Prosecutor, the President of the Supreme Court and the Rector of the University of Moldova.
The EPLO strives to promote reforms in the field of the Rule of Law, Human Rights and Public Administration. Within this framework, the Greek delegation and Moldovan Authorities discussed crucial matters concerning all the necessary changes in the direction of Moldova’s approach to European Union’s legislation and practice.
