Greek Delegation Mission to Moldova

A EPLO delegation traveled to Chisinau on 20 - 23 June 2006 within the framework of the Project: “YPSILANTIS - Training of Moldovan jurists on the rule of Law and support for the necessary legal reforms in Moldova”. The Greek delegation comprised of Professor S. Tsakyrakis, Professor of Law at the National and Capodistrian University of Athens, Mr. E. Zoidis, attorney-at-law specialized in criminal law, and Mr. E. Kalamaras, Associate Researcher/ Project Manager of the EPLO. 

During this visit, several meetings with public prosecutors were organized. Specifically, the Greek delegation was received by the Prosecutor General of Moldova, along with the four Prosecutors in charge of the General Prosecution, the Prosecutor in charge of local matters, the six heads of the Departments of the General Prosecution at the Office of Judicial Cooperation and European Matters of the General Prosecution of Moldova, the Prosecutor Municipal, and finally, by the Prosecutor in charge of corruption matters.

The meetings led to very fruitful conclusions regarding the actual implementation of the project principals. Moreover, special emphasis was placed on the perspective of organizing a Greece-Moldova Prosecutors’ Cooperation Center, in order to develop the cooperation and the exchange of experience between the General Prosecutions of the two countries.
