The EPLO, in collaboration with the National Council for Training of the Republic of Sudan, organized the first seminar on “Electoral Reforms” within the framework of the Project “AMMON - Training of Jurists on the Rule of Law and Democracy and Support of the Necessary Legal Reforms in Sudan”.
The speakers in this event included Mr. P. Danias from the Hellenic Administrative Court of First Instance, and Mr. M. Sioli, expert in Electoral Systems.
The audience consisted mainly of lawyers, public servants, jurists, members of NGOs and academics.
The following issues were discussed during the seminar:

- The role of the judiciary on the electoral procedure
- The electoral committees and the basic principles of the Greek electoral system
- The legal framework of the electoral disputes
- Incompatibilities and qualifications of the candidates for the Parliament
- Specific cases from the Special Supreme Court case-law
- Elections and gender issues
- The Constitutional Electoral principles
